My name is Janet Schindele and I am the owner operator of Learn To Sew, located in Broomfield, Colorado. I have been teaching sewing for 11 years, I teach both children & adults, starting at age 7. I believe that sewing should be fun and fast. I can be technical, but in our fast paced society, I want my students to not only Learn To Sew, but to develop the love of sewing. I learned to sew from my mother, on a treadle sewing machine. She told me if I learned to sew well, she would buy an electric sewing machine. I became a good seamstress real fast. I also took 4-H and Home Economics in Jr. High and High School. I have been sewing since I was in 4th grade and made most of my own clothes in high school and college. I have sewn clothing for my 6 children and my grand children, handbags & costumes. I have also re-designed garments into other garments. Sewing is a passion for me that relaxes me as well as gives me a sense of real accomplishment. Sewing is a great skill to know and I feel it is becoming a lost art for young sewers. I believe that sewing teaches coordination, dexterity and is such a creative outlet. Sewing also instills a great sense of accomplishment and pride, which we all need.
